Campaign Overview
At a Glance

The DEUTZ Engine Health Check campaign is designed to generate more planned service work by giving customers a simple, preventative way to understand the condition of their engine.

Launching across web, print, email and social media, the campaign promotes a £99 + VAT engineer site visit, written Engine Health Report and 10% off qualifying DEUTZ parts and labour where further work is recommended.

While some minor details have been changed since the ‘Initial Campaign Details’ presentation was made at the Aftersales meeting on 18/9/25 it remains a good overview of the campaign.

Campaign Rationale

DEUTZ UK wants to increase planned service and maintenance work for its field engineers. We also want to get the engineers out in front of customers more to promote DEUTZ and this provides a more technical focus to do so. Previous price-led service promotions have not generated enough response, and the issue appears to be broader than the offer itself: the campaign needs to reach the people who actually own, operate or maintain DEUTZ-powered equipment, including people who may think first about the machine rather than the engine brand.

We wanted to avoid another generic “X% off servicing” campaign because discount alone is unlikely to create enough interest or reach. It also hasn’t had the impact we would have liked on previous campaigns.

The focus will be completely on preventative maintenance rather than breakdown work, where the customer already has an urgent need. When it’s a breakdown we should be getting that work anyway.

We need to give customers a reason to engage with DEUTZ before something goes wrong.

Strategic Opportunity

From market research undertaken preventative health checks are already familiar in the wider equipment and engine market, which gives the concept credibility. These include JCB Machine Health Checks, Perkins service/maintenance messaging and a Cummins engine health check promotion. These references validate the preventative-check concept.

The opportunity for DEUTZ is to package the idea as a simple, tangible and easy-to-buy service: a low-cost preventative check carried out by a factory-trained DEUTZ engineer, followed by a branded written report.

Campaign Proposition

DEUTZ ENGINE HEALTH CHECK

Hero message: HOW HEALTHY IS THE ENGINE INSIDE YOUR MACHINE?

Support line: Find out before it tells you.

Campaign sign-off: YOUR ENGINE. CHECKED BY DEUTZ.

Offer: £99 preventative inspection Engine Health Check

We are NOT selling an engineer for an hourly rate. We are selling useful knowledge about the condition of a business-critical asset. This is a low-cost 12-point check/inspection which will run essentially like a car MOT. The £99 fee is intentionally nominal rather than free. It gives the service value and avoids positioning the visit as a sales-led “free inspection”. Any additional work booked as a result of the Health Check will receive a 10% discount on parts & labour.

How it Works

  1. CUSTOMER REQUESTS AN ENGINE HEALTH CHECK
    Via website, email or phone.
  2. WE CHECK ENGINEER AVAILABILITY IN THEIR AREA
Health Checks are scheduled alongside existing DEUTZ service work in their area.
  3. WE CONFIRM THEIR HEALTH CHECK APPOINTMENT
  4. OUR ENGINEER COMPLETES THE 12-CHECK INSPECTION
  5. CUSTOMER & CANNOCK SERVICE DESK RECEIVE HEALTH CHECK REPORT
Before the engineer leaves site the customer will receive their report and can discuss with engineer if desired.  Any advisory or action status will include the engineer’s comments. Engineer will leave a Health Check card with the site contact.
  6. WE HELP WITH ANY NEXT STEPS IDENTIFIED
If maintenance or further work is recommended, we will advise on what is needed and arrange appropriate follow-up.

Commercial and Operational Mechanism

The offer only works if it is operationally viable. The £99 Health Check must not become a discounted fault-finding call-out.

  • Available subject to engineer availability and scheduled alongside existing DEUTZ service work in the area.
  • Not offered as an unrestricted £99 standalone call-out.
  • Engine must be operational and have no known current fault.
  • Existing breakdowns, warning lights, known faults or performance problems are handled through normal DEUTZ diagnostic/service arrangements.
  • Any repair, fault-finding or maintenance work identified during the check is quoted separately.
  • Booking form should screen for known faults before acceptance.

Campaign Audience

Priority audiences are people with responsibility for uptime, maintenance and service of off-highway equipment, plus organisations that can influence or refer DEUTZ-powered equipment users.

  • Fleet managers
  • Plant managers
  • Service managers
  • Maintenance managers
  • Engineering managers
  • Workshop managers
  • Operations managers
  • Agricultural engineers
  • Quarry/site managers
  • OEMs and equipment dealers
  • Authorised Parts Stockists
  • Existing parts customers and lapsed service customers
